Ofsted Reports and Visits

Ofsted are responsible for overseeing Child Protection by English Local Authorities, they are tasked with regulating and inspecting services for children, young adults and learners of all ages.

They register and inspect those who provide childcare for children aged from birth up to their eighteenth birthday. This is done to reassure parents and carers that when children are in registered childcare they are cared for by people who are suitable.

More information for both parents and child minders can be found HERE

On our last inspection report we were pleased to be labelled as GOOD, although we strive for outstanding.

Here are a few excerpts from our last Ofsted report.

The childminder is registered on the Early Years Register and the compulsory and voluntary parts of the Childcare Register. The childminder is a member of the National Childminding Association.

Overall the quality of the provision is good. Children’s progress is sound and they thoroughly enjoy their time at the setting because the childminder knows how to engage their interests and ensures activities are achievable relative to their starting points and capabilities. The childminder uses observations and assessments to inform planning and is currently in the process of implementing this with all the children. The childminder is keen to ensure all children are included and recognises the uniqueness of each child supporting them and helping them to understand the needs of others’ and to become firm friends with each other. The good quality relationships give children a strong sense of belonging.

Very clear and effective steps are taken to ensure children remain safe while still allowing them the freedom to discover and learn safely. The childminder is skilful at helping children to learn how to keep themselves safe.

The children access a wide range of physical play on a daily basis. They regularly visit the local park to practice their physical skills and are routinely outdoors in all weathers playing in the snow and exploring the garden.
